The Swartzentruber Amish are a sect Old Order Amish that formed a division results that occurs in Holmes County, Ohio Amish in 1917. The bishop who broke away was Sam E. Yoder. The name was later applied Swartzentruber, the name of Bishop Samuel Swartzentruber who succeeded him. There are five districts in Holmes County Swartzentruber and Wayne County in the sub-group of origin. Now there Swartzentruber Amish groups settled in 15 other states with the largest group in the United States located in Wisconsin Bluff Country.
