What breed of horse should i get?
I’m am thinking about getting another horse. I want to know what type of horse you think may be best it doesn’t matter if its a cross or purebred. I’m around 5′7 or 5′8 and i like taller horses around 15-17hh i like basically any color except plain chestnuts and blacks unless they’re like a roan, paint or have pangare markings. i mostly trail ride but may show in western pleasure. So tell me what breed you think would be best!
Thanks everyone so far that has answered i like all of your opinions but I’m not basing the breed thing on attitude but more on what they could be used for but thanks. I’m only used to horses that I’ve owned before which is Belgians, QHs, and standardbreds I’m just seeing if there’s another breed that would suit me also! :]
MMMmmm. Belgians. I miss my old gal. She just died a year and a month ago- 29 years old! Anyways, if you like to show western pleasure, mix it up and buy an American Saddlebred. They don’t peanut roll:

Many older and simply calmer, lower actioned, and less hot saddlebreds are great for trails. Lots of WP ASB’s don’t need heavy shoes, what you see is their natural action- and it wasn’t high enough to cut it in the high action saddleseat classes. Others have some pads or weight to help keep them nice and square.
Some people critisize ASB’s doing western, because saddlebreds “weren’t used on the range” Actually, a lot a trail horses were saddle horse crosses- they’re comfortable. ANy horse that was hardy and had stamina. But come on, the cowboys didn’t have they’re horses move really realy excessively slow, and with their heads low, probably not even level when they got going! (BTW I have shown Qh WP, I’m not some close minded hipocrite. ) =D
