Cribbing??????
My horse cribs alot, but the thing is, is that I don’t have extra money laying around to buy those daily powder supplements that are costly. I was wondering if those muzzle things work, that slip over the halter, but it lets them still drink and graze, but they can’t chew on wood. How much are they and do they work? (I don’t wanna use those collar things that shock them tho 
Also I know cribbing is dangerous, but why is it dangerous, what does it do to the horse? Thank you all.
Cribbing means to chew on wood. It’s bad because it tears up barns & fences and it leads to windsucking. It can be corrected by painting top boards with pepper sauce, etc.
Windsucking is when they lean back with their top teeth on a fence or pole, and suck in air just like boys do to make themselves burp. It is bad because it takes air into their gut. It is an addiction, you can think of it like a child biting his nails, they won’t stop doing it just because the wood tastes nasty.
Cribbing straps are leather bands that fit snugly just behind his throat. They don’t interfere with eating or drinking, but they prevent his windpipe from enlarging enough for him to enjoy sucking wind. Never ride with a cribbing strap on him, for it might interfere with his necessary deep breaths.
